Accomplishments of the Carling Council 2023 to 2026
Overall 4yr township property taxes kept to the lowest increase of all the West Parry Sound communities
Design, build, and grant for the Carling Township Firehall. Estimated opening is the Fall of 2026
Township playground – received funding for modern, safe playground area located at the Carling Community Centre
Received grant funding for Carling Ice Surface Chiller. Installed for the 2026 winter
Upgraded Community Centre venue with the wood framing to enhance the rentability of the venue, along with upgrades to Community Centre Sound System
New Council Chamber furnishings and sound system to improve quality of video recording of meetings
Supported township response during the emergency caused by flooding and storm damage in Carling Township
Road infrastructure maintenance and improvements as per the Township’s 15-year plan. These improvements included: Pengally Bay Road, East and West Carling Bay Roads, Bayview Road, and Remy Bay Road
Developed plans for a new park to be located in Carling Bay
Addressed rate payers concerns about By-laws implementation and enforcement
Official Plan for Carling Township was approved by the Province of Ontario with support of Carling Township personnel
Addressed parking conditions at boat launch areas
Hired new building inspector. Worked on plan to eliminate the backlog of building permit closures and reduce permit issuance timing
Improved communications to the rate payers with the installation of the new sign at the Community Centre and the creation of a new position “Township Communication / Records Clerk”
Still advocating for Nurse Practitioner Lead Clinic (NPLC). Since the implementation of the request for applications the rules have changed annually. However, the Carling Council still voice our support for a NPLC with our local Ontario Health Team (OHT)
Council has continued to support the volunteers in our community for dinners, markets, special events such as Remembrance Day Service, Winter Carnival, community events such as musical events, and other social and community events
